Pool Features

Raised Beam/ Wall

A Raised Beam can serve many purposes in a pool! Functionally, it can be used to retain soil on sloped sites, acting like a mini retaining wall to hold back the surrounding grade. Aesthetically, a raised bond beam adds depth and visual interest to the pool’s perimeter.

This elevation change in the pool wall also creates the perfect opportunity to incorporate custom features, such as waterfalls, sheer descents, or decorative tile or stone finishes.

Exposed Pool Wall

Building a pool on sloped ground often requires extensive excavation or the construction of retaining walls. However, by designing the back wall of the pool to be exposed and structurally reinforced, the natural slope can be leveraged, eliminating the need for an additional retaining wall behind the pool. This approach not only reduces construction costs but also offers an opportunity for aesthetic enhancement.

The exposed portion of the wall can be finished with decorative stone or parched.

Tanning Ledge

A tanning ledge, also known as a sun shelf, is a shallow, flat area typically located at the entrance of a pool. It’s usually 12 inches deep, providing just enough water to cool off while lounging.

Tanning ledges are perfect for placing chaise lounges, umbrella stands, or even letting young children or pets safely enjoy the water. They're both a luxurious design feature and a practical one, offering a resort-like space to relax, sunbathe, or dip your feet without fully entering the pool!

Water Features

Sheer Descent Waterfall

A sheer descent is a type of waterfall feature in a pool that produces a smooth, thin sheet of water flowing straight down from a narrow opening, typically built into a wall or raised bond beam. The water appears to “sheet” off the edge in a clean, elegant line.

They can vary in width—from a few inches to several feet—and often come with adjustable flow rates, allowing you to create anything from a gentle trickle to a dramatic cascade.

Bubblers

Bubblers are small water features typically installed on shallow areas of a pool like tanning ledges. They shoot gentle streams or bursts of water vertically into the air, creating a playful, fountain-like effect.

Beyond their decorative appeal, bubblers add sound and movement to the pool environment, enhancing the spa-like atmosphere. They’re also a hit with kids, offering interactive fun in safe, shallow water.

Deck Jets

Deck jets are sleek water features that shoot arcing streams of water from the pool deck into the pool. Installed flush with the pool deck, they create elegant, arching water effects that can span several feet, adding both movement and a cooling mist to the pool area.

Deck jets are popular for their visual appeal and relaxing sound. For nighttime ambiance, many deck jets can be illuminated with color-changing LED lights, making them a dramatic design element after dark.

Other Features

LED Multicolor Pool Lights

Multicolor LED pool lights are energy-efficient lighting systems that allow you to illuminate your pool in a wide range of vibrant colors. These lights can be programmed to change colors automatically, fade between hues, or stay on a single color—creating stunning ambiance for night swimming or entertaining.

They can be installed underwater, in water features like bubblers. They are long-lasting, cost-effective, and can be customized to many colors.

Vanishing Edge

A vanishing edge, also known as an infinity edge or negative edge, is a luxurious design feature where one edge of the pool appears to merge seamlessly with the horizon. Water flows over this edge into a catch basin below, then gets recirculated back into the pool—creating a striking visual illusion of water extending infinitely.

Beyond aesthetics, vanishing edge pools are often used on sloped properties to enhance the view and blend the pool with the natural surroundings.

Rock Grotto

Pool grottos are cave-like features built into or beside a pool, often hidden behind a waterfall, that create a private, shaded retreat within the water. They’re typically constructed with rock or faux-rock materials and may include bench seating.

They range in size from small and cozy to larger spaces, making them a popular choice for adding a sense of adventure and luxury. Paired with a waterfall, grottos become a dramatic visual and sensory focal point ideal for tropical-style escapes.

Diving Board

A diving board is a platform installed at the deep end of a pool, designed to let swimmers jump or dive into the water. It adds a fun, athletic element to the pool experience, especially for older kids and adults who enjoy diving or performing tricks.  Diving boards are typically mounted over the deepest part of the pool, which must meet specific safety depth requirements (8 feet or more) to ensure safe use.

Dive Rock

A dive rock is a large, natural-looking rock structure or feature built into a pool, designed for safe diving or jumping into the water. Unlike a traditional diving board, a dive rock is more integrated into the pool's landscaping, providing a more natural or rugged aesthetic.

Dive rocks are placed at the deep end of the pool, where the water is deep enough to ensure a safe dive. They add a unique, adventurous element to the pool area, blending functionality with an organic design.

Fire Bowls

22

Fire bowls are decorative features installed around the perimeter of a pool that combine open flame with stylish bowl designs, creating a dramatic and luxurious ambiance—especially at night. Typically placed on pillars, columns, or raised bond beams, fire bowls serve as stunning visual focal points, offering a bold contrast between the element of fire and water.

These bowls are often fueled by natural gas or propane, and many can be ignited remotely or integrated into smart pool systems.
